Metallica Announces First-Ever Art Exhibit!


If there is a band that is constantly looking for ways to reinvent their craft, that band is Metallica! While the bands primary focus is in their music, they don't think there is a reason why to stop themselves from exploring new ventures. Prove of this?

- Symphony & Metallica (S&M): Metallica joins the San Francisco Symphony conducted by Michael Kamen. It was recorded on April 21–22, 1999 at The Berkeley Community Theatre.

- Some Kind of Monster: The controversial 2004 documentary film featuring the band at the lowest point in their career.

- LULU: The collaborative album between rock singer-songwriter Lou Reed, and Metallica. This new venture was just released and has everyone talking about it!

So what's next for Metallica?

Metallica will be hosting their first-ever art exhibit called "Obey Your Master" beginning January 20th and running through March 23rd at Exhibit A Gallery in Los Angeles. The exhibit is intended to be an art tribute to this Heavy Metal kingpins. Some of the artists that are scheduled to be included are Metallica’s Rob Trujillo, Slipknot founding member Shawn Crahan, Shepard Fairey, groundbreaking skateboarders Tony Alva and Steve Caballero, Brian M. Viveros, Joe Petagno, Travis Louie, Mr. Kaves and approximately 20 others.

For the exhibit, the artists have all chosen a specific Metallica song by and will execute their vision in their individual artistic mediums, based on their interpersonal relationship to Metallica’s lyrics and music.
