Type O Negative to Release Deluxe Vinyl Box!

After the death of Type O Negative's charismatic front-man Peter Steele on April 14, 2010, the herds of Type O fanatics knew that it was the end of the bands legacy. Lets face it, Peter Steele is to blame for the unique direction that "The Drab Four" (in homage to The Beatles' "Fab Four" moniker) adopted ever since their inception in the late 80s.

Today, it was announced that Roadrunner Records will be releasing a special Type O Negative vinyl box set exclusively via independent retailers on Black Friday, which falls on November 25th this year.

As the first band to achieve platinum status on the Roadrunner roster, Type O Negative didn't rewrite the rules. They simply tore the rule book up, burned what was left of it and did whatever the hell they wanted with the smoldering ash. The result was nothing short of brilliant, as they combined dirge-like doom with head down, gothy grooves, all while retaining the sort of signature melody that made their songs utterly memorable, infesting your brain like a virus.

The vinyl box includes all of Type O Negatives Roadrunner Records releases. Here are all the details:

- Each album will be issued on double green vinyl, with the album art recreated, including the controversial, rarely seen original cover of "The Origin Of The Feces". TYPE O fans know all about that cover and the anatomy which it features.

- Additionally, each album will also have new, branded liner notes documenting the genesis and completion of each album. As well, as an exclusive sticker sheet with six mini bumper stickers will also be included in this "must-own" set for Type O Negative diehards. It's an instant collector's item.

The set includes the following releases:

- Slow, Deep and Hard
- The Origin of the Feces
- Bloody Kisses
- October Rust
- World Coming Down
- Life Is Killing Me

This is what Type O Negative's drummer Johnny Kelly: "This looks great, but we're disappointed that Roadrunner couldn’t get it together to do the scratch-and-sniff cover we wanted for 'The Origin Of The Feces'."

NYC Heavy Metal Sensation 'Resolution 15' Occupy Wall Street!

As we all know, there is a revolutionary peaceful global movement taking place globally because the citizens of the world are fed up with the system! The "Occupy Wall Street" is an ongoing series of demonstrations that are taking place in New York City (based in Zuccotti Park in the Wall Street financial district), and were initiated by Canadian activist group Adbusters. Participants are mainly protesting social and economic inequality, corporate greed, and the power and influence of corporations, particularly from the financial service sector, and of lobbyists, over government (Source: Wikipedia).

Right now, similar demonstrations are being held in 70 major cities and over 600 communities in the U.S. Other "Occupy" protests have modeled themselves after "Occupy Wall Street", in over 900 cities worldwide.

Today, NYC Heavy Metal sensations Resolution 15 joined the "Occupy Wall Street" movement and performed a few of their songs in front of the masses. This does not surprise us at all, given that Resolution 15 has a strong political message within their lyrics and their overall message. Actually, Earl Maneein (Violinist) named the band after the Resolution 15, which was issued in January of 1959 by North Vietnam's Central Executive Committee, changing its strategy from “Political struggle” to "armed struggle".

The rest of Resolution 15 is compiled by Nick Serr (Vocals), Joel Lambdin (Violins), Kenny Grohowski (Drums), and Jim Robertson (Bass).

There are several remarkable things about Resolution 15's musical philosophy:

- The most remarkable characteristic is that this band has completely eliminated guitars from their line-up.

- Resolution 15 uses custom made 7-string electric violins to achieve the intensity and heaviness that guitars offer in Heavy Metal.

- Their music is realized on these unique instruments, and because of that they are able to pull away from simply playing guitar driven metal riffs on acoustic instruments.

- They realize this new sound by translating some aspects of Metal guitar playing, and merging these with the inherent strengths of bowed strings, and finally super-charging that sound through guitar heads and cabinets.

The band will be occupying The Studio at Webster Hall on Friday, November 18th, 2011 in New York City for Thanksgiving METAL Feast (Presented by Horns Up Rocks). Click here for ticket information.

Testament's Chuck Billy Discusses NEW Album 'The Dark Roots Of Earth'!

Testament have been spending time in the studio recording "The Dark Roots Of Earth", the follow up to their 2008 Golden God 'Album of the Year' award winning album, "The Formation of Damnation", released on Nuclear Blast Records to critical acclaim. The album was named SiriusXM Liquid Metal's 'Album of the Year' in 2008, and debuted at #59 on the Billboard Top 200. "The Formation of Damnation" is Testament's highest charting release in their 24-year history. Set to be released in late April/early May via Nuclear Blast Records "The Dark Roots Of Earth" is on of the most anticipated albums of 2012 in Heavy Music. Here is what vocalist and front-man Chuck Billy had to say about the NEW Testament record.

"It's done... I have three songs left to sing. I think it is going to be a very strong record. It's the first record in a long time that we felt really confident before the record was done. On the last few records we knew we had some good songs, but we didn't know how good the record was until we sat down and listened to the record from start to finish. For this record it's a lot different, we know just by doing the demos and hearing the songs on their own... they all have a life for themselves! While before, you had to listen to the record as a whole. I think the beauty of this album is that we didn't have anyone breathing down our necks saying 'hurry!' And we really took our time to make sure that it's right! I think this is the Testament record that's suppose to be right now!" - Chuck Billy (Front-man of Testament)

Due to a "serious injury," Testament's drummer Paul Bostaph was unable to take part of the studio sessions for "The Dark Roots Of Earth"! This undisclosed injury has also kept Bostaph away from the current Testament tour with Anthrax and Death Angel.

For select dates during this current tour (October 28 through November 13) , "The Atomic Clock", Gene Hoglan (ex-Dark Angel, ex-Strapping Young Lad, Fear Factory, Dethklok) will be stepping in for Bostaph. Hoglan was also part of Testament's studio sessions. The remaining dates will see Testament joined by John Tempesta (Exodus, White Zombie, Rob Zombie, Helmet, The Cult).

The band is currently on the road with fellow Thrashers Anthrax and Death Angel! This tour is NOT to be missed!

Heavy Music Demolishes the Billboard Charts with Releases by Charred Walls Of The Damned, Skeletonwitch, Five Finger Death Punch & Evanescence!

This week Heavy Music was very well represented on the Billboard Charts. Last week someone asked us if the Billboard Charts are still relevant? Absolutely! Why? Well, it not only helps Record Labels to see where there artists are standing compared to other similar artists/competitors, but it also helps bands to be placed on bigger and better tours. Here are the hard hitters in Heavy Music this week!

1) Evanescence's self-titled third major label album sold 127,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 1 on The Billboard 200 chart.

2) "American Capitalist", the third album from Las Vegas, Nevada-based Metallers Five Finger Death Punch, sold 91,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 3 on The Billboard 200 chart.

3) "Cold Winds On Timeless Days", the sophomore album from Charred Walls Of The Damned — the project led by acclaimed metal drummer Richard Christy (Iced Earth, Death, Leash Law, Control Denied, Burning Inside) — sold around 1,500 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The CD landed at No. 14 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

4) "Forever Abomination", the new album from Athens, Ohio's Skeletonwitch, sold 3,300 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 153 on The Billboard 200 chart.

Metallica & Lou Reed Revolutionize Music - Sound Sessions Experience Contest!

The Heavy Music world is in shock after hearing the music that Metallica and Lou Reed have created. "Lulu" is the name of the album, and it is set to be released on October 31, 2011, worldwide, and on November 1 in North America via Warner Bros./Vertigo. The collaboration was born when both Metallica and Lou Reed performed at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 25th anniversary contest. This is what Lars Ulrich had to say about this collaboration while on VH1's "That Metal Show" (episode airs this weekend).

"Metallica was basically the backing band for Lou Reed. We hope that the Metallica fans dig it."

"We were very interested in working with Lou," says Hetfield. "I had these giant question marks: What's it going to be like? What's going to happen? So it was great when he sent us the lyrics for the 'Lulu' body of work. It was something we could sink our teeth into. I could take off my singer and lyricist hat and concentrate on the music part. These were very potent lyrics, with a soundscape behind them for atmosphere. Lars and I sat there with an acoustic and let this blank canvas take us where it needed to go. It was a great gift, to be asked to stamp 'Tallica on it. And that's what we did."

"We had to bring 'Lulu' to life in a sophisticated way, using rock," Reed says. "And the hardest power rock you could come up with would have to be Metallica. They live on that planet. We played together, and I knew it: dream come true. This is the best thing I ever did. And I did it with the best group I could possibly find. By definition, everybody involved was honest. This has come into the world pure. We pushed as far as we possibly could within the realms of reality."

"It's definitely not a Metallica album, or a Lou Reed album," adds Hammett. "It's something else. It's a new animal, a hybrid."

In order to celebrate this unique collaboration in style, Metallica and Lou Reed will be holding a VIP listening party that is presented by Bowers & Wilkins Sound Sessions Experience and will take place in New York City on October 24, 2011. There is a contest going on right now (that ends at midnight today), in which fans can enter. Click here for more information.

"Lulu" final track listing:

01. Brandenburg Gate (4:19)
02. The View (5:17)
03. Pumping Blood (7:24)
04. Mistress Dread (6:52)
05. Iced Honey (4:36)

Richard Christy Discusses CWOTD's 'Cold Winds on Timeless Days', Howard Stern Show & Chuck Shuldiner (Death)!

When most people hear the name Richard Christy, they immediately think of the stunt guy from the Howard Stern Show on Sirius Satellite Radio. For us Metaleros, Richard Christy is synonymous to Heavy Metal drumming. Believe it or not, Richard has been a professional Heavy Metal drummer since 1995. In this time span, he has played in legendary bands like Death and Iced Earth, and in 2009 he formed Charred Walls of the Damned with Tim "Ripper" Owens.

Anyone who has met Richard Christy knows that not only is he very talented, but also a gentleman in every sense of the word. This might be hard to grasp after hearing and seeing his stunts on the Howard Stern Show, but it is all just a show. One thing that is evident, is that the same passion that took Richard to Heavy Metal heaven (or hell), also took him to radio elite. After all, being a drummer in a Heavy Metal band and working on the best radio show in history take a lot of discipline, passion and perseverance.

On Tuesday, October 11, Richard Christy took over Idle Hands Bar in New York City and presented to the world Charred Walls of the Damned's second studio album entitled "Cold Winds on Timeless Days" (out now via Metal Blade Records). During the event we were able to steal Richard away from his fans, to chat about this epic new release, as well as his career in radio. We also discussed his relationship with the late great Chuck Shuldiner from the legendary Heavy Metal band Death. This is what went down!

With 12 songs clocking in at 58 minutes, fans are getting a lot more music this time around. Recording twelve songs in a short amount of time is no easy feat, but one that was accomplished because of the stellar talents in the band. Christy elaborates further; "I wanted to get a natural sound out of this album, I wanted everyone to be well rehearsed, not that I wanted the album to be rushed, but I wanted the spontaneous live feel and not over think anything too much." Richard Christy describes Cold Winds on Timeless Days as a "perfect storm of producing". Audiohammer's Jason Suecof produced and Mark Lewis mixed, while mastering was handled by Alan Douches at West Westside.

Cold Winds On Timeless Days track listing:

1. Timeless Days
2. Ashes Falling Upon Us
3. Zerospan (Listen below)
4. Cold Winds
5. Lead the Way
6. Forever Marching On
7. Guiding Me
8. The Beast Outside My Window
9. On Unclean Ground
10. Bloodworm
11. Admire the Heroes
12. Avoid the Light

Randy Blythe Discusses Music Downloading & Lamb Of God's Rise to Fame!

One of the best features about social media, is how easily people can share useful and unuseful information with herds of people worldwide. Like any technology, some use it for better and some use it for worse. In the music world artists use it to keep their fans on the loop about new releases, tour updates, and to express themselves freely in an instant mode. Randy Blythe, front-man and vocalist of Lamb Of God is an avid Twitter user (@lambvox). Yesterday a student who was writing a paper about music downloading asked him the following question via Twitter:

"Where do you think you would be right now career wise, if illegal downloading failed to exist?"

This is what Randy had to say about this:

"A pointless question. I do not owe my career to downloading of any sort, neither legal nor illegal. Bands existed before internet. Lamb of God did it the old fashioned way: we played out live, anywhere we could, when we could. Our first real following developed in Philly. We were playing Punk Rock warehouse shows until the warehouses couldn't hold us anymore.

"We got a strong regional following, based on our LIVE SHOWS- not on the Internet, and not on a record we didn't have. People from labels first started to notice us in Philly- dudes from Relapse, Nuclear Blast, & other folks knew who we were, because we took it to the hoop each time and EVERYTIME we played. Still no labels were biting- I was told by some people later (label employees) it was because they thought we were too volatile as a group & would break up soon. Too much craziness. No one want to invest in a band that will break up in 6 months, & we WERE WILD.

"So my buddy (Mikey Brosnan, RIP) STARTED a label to put out our records because he believed in us. MORE people started to pay attention to us but we had already BUILT OURSELVES in the first place. The Internet didn't "make us". PUTTING IN THE HARD YARDS DID.

"If the Internet was the way to discover bands, no band would have existed before. And all 1 zillion bands on the Internet now would have it easy. But they don't. The way to "make it" as a band is to DO THE FUCKING WORK. Don't expect the Internet to blow you up, because except in a few isolated instances, IT WON'T. Go play live, learn your chops, and PAY YOUR FUCKING DUES. Then you get respect and real fans. We would not have our fan base now without our early core of fans, which had NOTHING to do w/the Internet. It had to do w/kicking ass & taking names on a shit stage for no pay, all day, EVERYDAY."

Lamb Of God is currently working on their seventh studio album, which is expected to be released in early 2012. Additionally, the band has announced that during their 2012 world tour, Lamb of God, in connection with Epic Records and 914 Films, will be shooting a feature film documenting fans and their personal stories of how they use Lamb of God's music to cope with their everyday lives. Lamb of God will be looking for one individual in each specified location to be chosen to participate in this very special event. The person selected will be involved with the full day of Lamb of God activities the day of the show in your hometown! Click here for more information.

Cradle Of Filth Unleashes 'Evermore Darkly…' in North America!

Today is a good day in Heavy Music! Extreme Metallers Cradle Of Filth have finally unleashed their CD/DVD mini-album entitled 'Evermore Darkly…', via Nuclear Blast Records. This mini-album is the follow-on to last year’s triumphant, 'Darkly, Darkly, Venus Aversa', and it features the brand new musical beast, “Thank Your Lucky Stars,” a special remix of “Forgive Me Father,” courtesy of Rob C. from Anthrax, an extended rendition of “Lilith Immaculate,” as well as tempered demo versions of three 'Darkly, Darkly, Venus Aversa' songs. The CD closes with a special taster from Cradle Of Filth’s impending orchestral project, in the form of a haunting, classic reworking of fan-favorite, “Summer Dying Fast.”

The 'Evermore Darkly…' DVD contains footage from Summer 2011, when Cradle Of Filth embarked on a rapid spat of tours, accompanied by two eager filmmakers. The resulting documentary, 'You Can't Polish A Turd… But You Can Roll It In Glitter,' combined with performance and interview footage, culminates in a forty five minute film of the not so glamorous reality of life in a touring band at work and play, as they trawl their way across Europe over eight performances. The DVD includes an interview with ghoul-guide, Dani Filth, interspersed and peppered with live footage and backstage shenanigans, culminating in the entire hour long set from this year's highly anticipated Graspop festival appearance.

“It is a much-loved musical stop-gap between albums, a pleasure treasure trove of wild and wicked wonders primed especially for fans. Something for them to sink their teeth into this autumn as the Cradle invasion fleet is primed for future contagion.” - Vocalist, Dani Filth.

The track list for Evermore Darkly… is…

1. Transmission From Hell

2. Thank Your Lucky Scars
3. Forgive Me Father (I Have Sinned) - Elder Version
4. Lilith Immaculate (Extended Length)
5. The Persecution Song - Elder Version
6. Forgive Me Father (I'm In A Trance)
7. The Spawn Of Love And War - Elder Version
8. Summer Dying Fast ('Midnight in The Labyrinth' breadcrumb trail)

Venus Diversa DVD…

1. Lilith Immaculate Promo Video
2. ‘You Can't Polish A Turd…But You Can Roll It In Glitter’ Rockumentary
3. Burning Down Graspop, Dessel, Belgium, 25th June 2011 Live Footage

Behemoth Destroys the Citizens of Katowice & Wroclaw!

This past weekend, the citizens of the Polish cities of Katowice and Wroclaw, welcomed extreme blackened Death Metal meisters Behemoth with their Horns Up!

The band expected it would take some time to return to form, but so far, they are ahead of schedule. As we all know, Behemoth had to take a forced musical break when Adam Michał Darski (A.K.A. Nergal) was diagnosed with Leukemia in August of 2010. Here is an update from Nergal after the bands first few performances since he was able to rejoin the musical spectrum.

"Things are going better than expected. I was really thinking it’d take more time for us to adjust to live circumstances after such a long break. Surprisingly, we are catching up real fast. Shows in Katowice and Wroclaw belong to the best ones we’ve ever played in Poland! Both venues we completely sold out. I already can’t wait next round this coming weekend. Warsaw, be warned!"

Behemoth has one show left on their "Phoenix Rising" tour in Poland. The show is October 21st in Warsaw, Poland. Many more tour dates are being booked in addition to the "Full Of Hate" tour with Cannibal Corpse across continental Europe February-March 2012.

In other Behemoth news; the new music video for the track 'Lucifer' off the bands 2009 release "Evangelion" was recently presented to the masses. The video was shot in Wroclaw, Poland and stars the song's guest vocalist, Maciej Malenczuk.

Back in print and newly repackaged, "Demonica" chronicles the earliest recordings of Polish blackened Death Metal legends Behemoth! "Demonica" will include two booklets; a 28 page booklet and a 16 page booklet with rare photos and lyrics that were not included with the original release. Here is an mp3 for the track 'Summoning of the Ancient Gods' off the upcoming reissue.

Chickenfoot - Video Premiere of "Three and a Half Letters (I Need A Job)"

Arguably considered one of the best new bands in Heavy Music, Chickenfoot has been making plenty of noise since the release of "CHICKENFOOT III" (out now via eOne Music/Edel/EarMusic). This supergroup features guitarist Joe Satriani, drummer Kenny Aronoff, former Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony and frontman Sammy Hagar. No, don't wipe your eyes, they are not deceiving you.

Today, the band is premiering their music video for "Three and a Half Letters (I Need A Job)". It has also been announced, that the band will perform the song on Jimmy Kimmel Live on the evening of November 3rd.

The song is motivated by the dismal job economy and features letters that were sent to Hagar as pleas for help. Chickenfoot is partnering with Feeding America to encourage fans to help alleviate some of the effects of the job economy. This is what he had to say about this.

"I received a lot of letters from people over the years who were looking for help or work and recently I received one from an Afghan War Veteran that ended with 'Can you help? I need a job’... that just really hit me and the song came together. We really want to encourage anyone to help where they can and I think one of the easiest ways is by making contributions to their local food banks so I hope we get that message across in this video and while we are on tour."

"I Need a Job," directed by Arthur Rosato (Springsteen, Bonnaroo), features the real life letters received by Hagar and closes with a call to action in partnership with Feeding America. Beginning today, the band is inviting fans to post their own letters and stories to their website in hopes it will help them find employment and continue to shed light on the critical condition in America. The band is also planning on additional outreach to bring more awareness to the issue in each city on their upcoming “Road Test Tour.” While those who are better off may not be able to offer actual jobs, Chickenfoot believes that contributions to food banks in their hometowns is one simple way, among many others, that fans can help firsthand on a local level.

The band is set to embark on the recently announced “2011 Road Test Tour,” beginning November 1st at the Warfield Theatre, San Francisco. The tour will take the band (Satriani, Anthony, Hagar and touring drummer Kenny Aronoff) through five US and five European cities in support of their most recent release "Chickenfoot III", which debuted on the Billboard album chart at #9.

"Chickenfoot III" features 10 tracks with so many moments of epiphany that one can barely take them all in on first listen. Colossal, stadium-shaking riffs abound on earth-movers such as “Alright, Alright,” “Last Temptation” and “Lighten Up.” Tradition meets innovation on the Nashville pop-tinged “Different Devil,” the Delta-blues flavored “Something Going Wrong” and the aching Rock ballad “Come Closer.”

Chickenfoot III follows the band’s 2009 debut album, which debuted at #3 on the Billboard Top 100 and was certified gold for sales of over 500,000 units by the Recording Industry Association of America.

Rob Dukes (Exodus) & Rob Moschetti (ex-Pro Pain, M.O.D) Discuss Generation Kill's NEW Album 'Red, White and Blood'!

In times when music has become somewhat stale and predictable, Generation Kill has delivered the Heavy Music community a fresh sounding, hard hitting crushing display of adrenaline, via their new album entitled "Red, White and Blood". The band is fronted by Exodus' vocalist Rob Dukes, who joined forces with his good friend Rob Moschetti (ex-Pro Pain & M.O.D.) in order to create music without an agenda.

Ever since their inception, the original concept of the band was to break away from a predictable formula of music. They consciously decided to blend in elements of Thrash Metal, Hardcore, and various other musical styles, in order to embrace their roots. Prove of this sonic crossover of music can be found on their new album "Red, White and Blood", in which each song has its own identity and mood, which gives the band a signature sound without ever abandoning their influences.

The band recently took over the "Heavy Metal Mecca", Duff's Brooklyn, to celebrate the release of "Red, White and Blood" (out now via Season Of Mist). During the Metallic event, we had the chance to chat with members of the band about the formation of Generation Kill, the creation of "Red, White and Blood", and their future plans.

Speaking of the bands future plans, they will be performing at the 2011 "Hixon Helloween Fest" on Saturday, October 29 at The Trash Bar in Brooklyn. Click here for more details.

Without further due, here is our interview with Generation Kill! Sit back, relax, crank it up, and spread the word!

Stream of Hammers of Misfortune NEW Album '17th Street'!

With a newly-rejuvenated line-up and their signature sound intact, San Francisco's Hammers of Misfortune have returned with "17th Street", a brash and heartfelt song cycle, blending the best elements of NWOBHM, Thrash, doom Metal, and American folk music while somehow sounding unlike any of these. "17th Street" takes the band's inimitable sound to a new level, creating an emotional gravity that only further accentuates the band's formidable songwriting chops. This is what John Cobbett (guitarist & producer of the band) had to say about this.

"I can see how someone could find it an upbeat record at first glance. If you listen carefully, you'll find that each song has its own point of view. You might find hope, or something very different, very dark."

Krisiun Give Fans a Taste of 'The Great Execution'!

Arguably one of the most extreme bands in Death Metal today, Krisiun are ready to unleash their newest monument of brutality, "The Great Execution", set for release on November 1st in North America vie Century Media Records! Today, the band is offering their maniacal fans a taste of their new album via their Facebook page (link below).

"The Great Execution" is the band's 8th studio album and musically expands Krisiun's trademark high speed Death Metal violence with a heavily increased amount of diversity, ranging from extreme tempo variations over distinct rhythm patterns to clean guitars and even Flamenco parts!

Krisiun only used analog gear and instruments while recording this album to avoid the compressed sound that so many musicians produce today. This wise decision resulted in a more organic sound, with the songs on "The Great Execution" possessing both a warmth and a rawness that is so often lost through digital production. The low end is deeper, with drums that pound instead of bounce and guitar tones that sear rather than hiss.

"With our new record we managed to capture the sound and the vibe that we were always looking for. Going back to Stage One Studio in Germany and working with Andy Classen again was the right choice. The album came out with a very distinctive and natural sound, shattering the boundaries of the style once more." Alex Camargo (Vocalist/Bassist)

"The Great Execution" will be available as a limited edition digipak including a re-recorded version of the classic Krisiun song "Black Force Domain" as a bonus track, plus as a180g gatefold vinyl and as a digital download.

Krisiun is:

- Alex Camargo [Vocal/Bass]
- Moyses Kolesne [Guitar]
- Max Kolesne [Drums]

It has been over 4 years since Down released their critically acclaimed album titled "Down III: Over the Under". Since the band knows that the fans are hungry for new Down music and that they don't want to wait 4+ years between albums, the Down boys decided to release four EP's within the next few years.
